Meet James
Leadership that believes that people matter
My name is James Davis and I was born in Bartow, Florida. When I was six years old my mother became a widow and struggled valiantly to feed my eight brothers and sister. Life was hard then and at the young age of fourteen I set out on my own hitchhiking to Pennsylvania where for a time I lived on the street. In Allentown, Pennsylvania, concerned community members enrolled me in Dieruff High School. There, as a sophomore, I placed second in the Pennsylvania State High School Wrestling Championship. Living with my aunt in Mt. Vernon, New York, I became the two-time New York High School State Heavy Weight Wrestling Champion. I earned a full scholarship to Trinidad State College and again was undefeated in wrestling. I now have a Masters in Neurolinguistic Programming and a PhD in Religious Philosophy. I have traveled extensively, lived overseas, been a business owner, teacher, spiritual guide and am now an author.
At the age of sixteen, I participated in the March on Washington and in the funeral of Dr. Martin Luther King. In 2008, I ran for Florida House in the Bartow area. I am still a political wrestling champion. I understand first-hand the importance of civil rights, justice, voting and having economic opportunity. We are at a crossroad in Central Florida. There is a critical need for visionary leadership for our diverse community. If elected I will work to address key issues which are important to our entire community: healthcare, education, economic development, criminal justice reform and environmental justice. Please join me in my campaign for Florida State House District 56.
